he holidays are upon us, and to celebrate, several holiday events are planned for members and their families at the 44th Street Club House and Harbour Court.
The Annual Meeting kicks off the month at 44th Street on Thursday, December 3rd. All members are invited to participate in the yearly gathering where voting members cast their vote on the slate for 2010 and hear the Flag Officers’ reports on the state of the Club. Following the meeting, a special limited a la carte menu will be served in the Grill Room through 2100. At Harbour Court the month begins with a special Wine Dinner featuring “Accessible Bordeaux” wines on Saturday, December 5th. Don’t miss this opportunity to explore carefully selected red, white and sweet wines from the Bordeaux region of France and learn from a knowledgeable wine expert who will help to de-mystify the various ranking systems that are in place for Bordeaux. Wines will be selected for their excellent drinkability and their affordability. Reservations are limited to 40 at $110 per person.
Holiday celebrations will highlight the remainder of the month in Newport beginning with the Swanhurst Chorus on Thursday, December 10th, followed by a Santa Holiday Brunch on Sunday, December 13th and a holiday Cocktail Party on Saturday, December 19th. This year’s annual New Year’s Eve formal will close the month and the year on Thursday, December 31st featuring an open bar, four-course dinner, music, dancing, fireworks and mid-night champagne. Reservations are $150 per person, all inclusive, and reflect a reduction over last year’s charge.

At 44th Street, holiday celebrations include a Chamber Music Concert on Sunday, December 6th at 1500. The Children’s Christmas Party follows on Saturday, December 12th featuring games and holiday activities, lunch and a gift from Santa. On the 16th, all members and their guests are invited to stop by for some cheer at the Holiday Open House from 1800-2000 in the Model Room. In addition, the Grill Room will be serving a limited holiday menu from 1800-2100, and reservations are suggested.

Please note that Monday Bridge at Harbour Court has been suspended for the remainder of 2009 through the spring of 2010.
